I have a little less than a month before my second semester in law school is over. While I try and devote myself to my studies, please understand if there is a lack of original content and mostly reblogs or nothing at all.. i promise i will be back as soon as i can… will you wait for me?
“The last three men nominated to the supreme court have seven children between them
The last three women nominated to the Supreme Court have zero children between them.
I have heard that the inequalities in pay are evening out. Still, the raising of children rests mostly on the shoulders of women, and having children often knocks them off the “fast track”. Once you are off it is almost impossible to get back on. So there is a whole group of talented, intelligent women who suffer because their hours are not as flexible. There is an opportunity for brands who embrace creative and flexible working hours to scoop up amazing employees. I think the workplace is changing (for better or worse). Work is a part of you, work for 5 minutes while drinking a coffee, work 40 miles into a bike ride, work at 5AM when you get an email on your phone, work 2 beers in on a Friday night. 9-5 provides some needed structure and normalcy but employees are changing are brands need to catch up. Nobody should not have to choose between their hobbies and their career, their health and their career and certainly never their family or their career.”—
So true, and what I’ve found that is even worse: female bosses are often the least compassionate (overcompensation?) and female childless bosses? THE WORST. I will never work for a middle-aged childless woman. They have absolutely no idea.
I know this is a vast over-generalization and I can only speak for the women I’ve met in the fashion industry, but having a child adds a whole other dimension to your life, and I refuse to work for a company that can’t be flexible with my schedule.
Case in point, my company allowing me to be bi-coastal until my custody case is settled. I was able to accompany my daughter and her classmates to the park this morning, and could very well have brought her with me on my appointments if I wanted to. My last job? Never could I have done this.
I need freedom when it comes to my work schedule and I really can’t accept less anymore.
