livefromplanetearth asked: You said it took you a long time to warm up to the way music is treated in Korea. How exactly is music treated there? x

Music in Korea is a “mainstream or nothing” type deal. There are practically NO bands/musicians that last more than two years before disappearing without a trace, and they all sound alike/look alike. Most of the music is manufactured to be like the most popular American songs and therefore tend to sound familiar and strange all at once (Korean reggae? Korean r&b? weird at first). The worst would be that music is played EVERYWHERE and unless you walk around in headphones you will be overexposed to the same songs until all of a sudden you can pick them out without trying to, find ones that seem more tolerable than others, and even sing along a little bit.

if you’re into a diverse music scene, i’d definitely recommend an ipod whilst traveling/visiting in Korea.
